Quick answer. Veterans Day is Wednesday, November 11, 2026, and any military or veteran shopping discount is a retailer’s voluntary offer, not part of the holiday itself. Online offers often use an outside service to confirm eligibility, but every retailer sets its own rules. Amazon’s Prime Access is not a general veteran discount, and we did not find a general Amazon military discount page.

Veterans Day comes first, shopping offers are separate
Veterans Day falls on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, according to the federal holiday schedule. [1] The Department of Veterans Affairs says the annual Veterans Day National Ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery begins at 11:00 a.m. with a wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknowns and honors everyone who served in the United States Armed Forces. The day is about honoring service. Any sales or military discounts offered around November 11 are choices made by individual retailers, so the existence, eligibility rules and exclusions can differ from one offer to another.
If you are looking at promotions around the date, our Veterans Day deals page keeps those offers together. Read the terms before planning a purchase around any discount.
How online military discount verification usually works
Many retailers use a service such as SheerID or ID.me rather than checking military status themselves. SheerID says brands use its service to confirm audiences including military members, while ID.me has a Community Verification section covering military groups. [4] [5]
That does not create one standard military discount system. Each retailer decides who qualifies, which items are included, whether exclusions apply and how an offer is delivered after status is confirmed.
Because there is no single standard process, treat the retailer’s own offer page as the authority for that particular promotion.
- Read the offer terms Check who the retailer says can use the offer and whether there are dates, purchase conditions or other restrictions.
- Use the retailer's own page Start verification from the retailer’s official offer page rather than from an unfamiliar advertisement or message.
- Check exclusions Look for items or categories that the retailer excludes before deciding that the discount applies to your purchase.
- Check the checkout price Confirm the final amount before placing the order. Do not assume that completing verification means every item in the cart receives the same offer.
What to check before you rely on a military discount
A discount can sound simple until you reach the terms or checkout. A few checks before ordering can prevent you from building a shopping plan around an offer that does not apply to the item you want.
| Question | Why it matters | Where to look |
|---|---|---|
| Who can use the offer? | Eligibility is set by the retailer and can differ from another retailer’s rules. | The retailer’s official offer terms |
| How is status confirmed? | Some retailers send shoppers to an outside verification provider. | The retailer’s verification page and the provider page |
| Are any items excluded? | Completing status verification does not mean every item is necessarily included. | Offer exclusions and product terms |
| Can another coupon be used too? | Combining offers depends on the retailer’s rules. | Coupon terms and checkout |
| Did the final price change? | The checkout total is where you can see what actually applied to the order. | The final checkout screen |
Amazon Prime Access is not a general veteran discount
Amazon’s Prime Access should not be confused with a general military or veteran discount. Amazon describes Prime Access as a discounted Prime membership for people who confirm income or participation in one of thirteen listed government assistance programs. [3]
One of those programs is Veterans & Survivors Pension Benefits. Amazon’s help page says that route requires uploading a decision letter, while another verification route involving tax transcripts redirects to SheerID and Amazon does not receive those documents. Some verification methods can take up to seven business days. [3]
Eligibility comes from participation in the programs Amazon lists, not simply from being a veteran or service member. We did not find a general Amazon military discount page, so check Amazon’s own help and deal pages rather than assuming one exists.
For ordinary Amazon shopping, you can separately compare today's Amazon promo codes with the price already shown on the product page. That is separate from Prime Access eligibility.
Check the final math before depending on an offer
Suppose an eligible $75.00 purchase has an offer that takes 10 percent off. Ten percent of $75 is $7.50, leaving a price of $67.50. That arithmetic is simple, but the harder question is whether the offer applies to that item under the retailer’s actual terms.
Now suppose the same item also shows a separate $5 seller coupon. Do not assume the two reductions combine. The retailer’s terms and the final checkout price determine whether both can be used together.
This is why the final price matters more than the headline wording. A discount can be real while still having exclusions or combination rules that make it different from what you expected before checkout.
A veteran discount ad still needs normal scam checks
A military or veteran theme does not make an unfamiliar seller safe. The FTC warns that unusually low prices can signal a scam and advises shoppers to research unfamiliar sellers, review the terms of sale and use a credit card when possible. [7]
The FTC also says not to buy from a seller that demands payment by gift card, wire transfer, payment app or cryptocurrency. [7] If an advertisement uses a veteran discount to create urgency, apply the same checks you would use for any other unfamiliar online seller.
Military Consumer is an FTC resource offering plain-language information for service members, veterans and families about scams and identity theft. Fraud can be reported through ReportFraud.ftc.gov. [6]
November 11 sits inside a busy shopping month
Veterans Day shares Wednesday, November 11 with Singles Day in 2026. Singles Day is a separate shopping event and is not related to Veterans Day, so the two should not be treated as the same promotion. Our Singles Day 2026 explainer covers that date from the shopping side.
Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 26, followed by Black Friday on November 27. [1] That puts Veterans Day a little more than two weeks before the traditional Black Friday date.
If a November 11 offer does not fit your budget, your planned purchase or the retailer’s eligibility terms, there is no reason to treat the date as a deadline. Our Black Friday 2026 calendar lays out the later dates, while Black Friday deals can be checked separately as the month progresses.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a military discount on Veterans Day?
There is no universal Veterans Day military discount. Retailers choose whether to offer one, decide who qualifies and set their own exclusions and terms. Check the retailer’s official offer page before planning a purchase around a discount.
How do online stores confirm military status?
Many retailers use outside services such as SheerID or ID.me to confirm military status. [4] [5] The retailer still decides its eligibility rules and which purchases are included, so the verification service does not create one set of rules for every store.
Does Amazon have a military discount for veterans?
We did not find a general Amazon military discount page. Amazon does offer Prime Access for people who meet its listed income or government assistance program requirements, including certain Veterans & Survivors Pension Benefits participants. [3] That is not a general veteran discount.
Is Amazon Prime Access available to every veteran?
No. Amazon describes Prime Access as a discounted membership tied to income or participation in one of thirteen listed government assistance programs. Veterans & Survivors Pension Benefits is one listed program, but veteran status by itself is not what the help page uses as the eligibility rule. [3]
Can a military discount be combined with another coupon?
It depends on the retailer’s terms. Do not assume two offers combine just because both appear available. Read the offer and coupon conditions, then confirm the final amount at checkout before placing the order.
Is Veterans Day the same date as Singles Day in 2026?
Yes. Veterans Day and Singles Day both fall on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, but they are separate events. Veterans Day is a federal holiday honoring military service, while Singles Day is an unrelated shopping event. [1] [2]
How can I avoid fake veteran discount offers?
Treat an unfamiliar seller the same way you would during any holiday sale. The FTC recommends researching the seller, checking sale and return terms, using a credit card when possible and avoiding sellers that demand gift cards, wire transfers, payment apps or cryptocurrency. [7]
